Maintaining Common Ground in Dynamic Environments

چکیده
Abstract Common grounding is the process of creating and maintaining mutual understandings, which a critical aspect sophisticated human communication. While various task settings have been proposed in existing literature, they mostly focus on common ground under static context ignore them overtime dynamic context. In this work, we propose novel setting to study ability both environments. Based our minimal formulation, collected large-scale dataset 5,617 dialogues enable fine-grained evaluation analysis dialogue systems. Through analyses, highlight challenges introduced setting, such as usage complex spatio-temporal expressions create maintain ground. Finally, conduct extensive experiments assess capabilities baseline system discuss future prospects research.

Building and Maintaining Common Ground in Web-Based Interaction
In this paper, the main purpose is to explore how participants establish and maintain common ground by their responses in order to reach web-based interaction of a deeper level. Previous studies suggest that before the participants can reach deeper level interaction and learning, they have to gain an adequate level of common ground (Dillenbourg, 1999; Baker et al., 1999; Veerman, 2000). Subject...

Previous studies assume that before the participants can reach the deeper level interaction and learning, they have to gain an adequate level of common ground (Dillenbourg, 1999; Baker et al., 1999; Veerman, 2000). Subjects were 68 pre-service teachers and 7...
متن کاملMaintaining Publish/Subscribe Middleware QoS in Dynamic Environments
Quality of service (QoS)-enabled publish/subscribe (pub/sub) middleware provides powerful support for data dissemination. It is hard, however, to maintain specified QoS properties (such as reliability and latency) in dynamic environments (such as disaster relief operations or power grids). For example, managing QoS manually is often not feasible in dynamic systems due to slow human response tim...
متن کاملMaintaining Cooperation in Noisy Environments
To prevent or alleviate conflicts in multi-agent environments, it is important to distinguish between situations where another agent has misbehaved intentionally and situations where the misbehavior was accidental. One situation where this problem arises is the Noisy Iterated Prisoner’s Dilemma, a version of the Iterated Prisoner’s Dilemma (IPD) in which there is a nonzero probability that a “c...
متن کاملOn the Dynamic Relations Between Common Ground and Presupposition
The common ground theory of presupposition has been dominant since the seventies (Stalnaker 1974, 1978, 2002). This theory has resulted from a view of communication as transfer between minds. In this view interlocutors presume that speakers speak cooperatively, they infer that they have intentions and beliefs that are necessary to make sense of their speech acts, and treat such entities as pree...
